Single Motor Vehicle Accident
|
The Greater Sudbury Police is currently on-scene on Bancroft Dr in the City of Greater Sudbury for a single motor vehicle rollover accident. Two of the passengers were taken to hospital by ambulance; their injuries are being evaluated at this time. The driver of the vehicle has been arrested for impaired driving and is currently in Police custody.

Mr. Charbonneau turned himself into police on the morning of the 16th November as a result of becoming aware of the news release on the 5th of November where he was listed as fugitive of the week by Crimestoppers. |

Failure to Remain
|
On November 15th, 2009 at approx 5:30 pm a motor vehicle collision occurred on Hwy 69 at Elmview in Hanmer. A Red Ford Pickup or Van was Eastbound on 69 and failed to yield right of way to Westbound traffic when trying to turn Northbound onto Elmview. The Red Ford came into contact with a 97 Mazda Pickup Green causing it to spin out of control in front of a Day Construction Tractor Trailer resulting in the Mazda being struck in the passenger side dragging the vehicle for approx 75 feet.

Possession of Stolen Property—Traffic Charges Laid

On the 14th of November members of the Greater Sudbury Police Service Criminal Investigations were in the Leslie Street area conducting an investigation when the officers notice a vehicle being operated in a suspicious manner. The vehicle was noted to have two different plates on it. Officers approached the vehicle.

The victim grabbed the suspect and the suspect swung a knife at the victim causing minor injuries to his stomach area.

Late evening on October18th, the Greater Sudbury Police Service arrested an adult male stopped on Mitchell Road in Sudbury. A breath demand was made three times to this male who refused. The officer arrested him for impaired driving and refusing to provide a breath sample for analysis. |

At approximately 4:50AM on the 12th of October while on patrol Uniform Officers observed a vehicle northbound on Regent Street a high rate of speed. As a result a traffic stop was initiated. At approximately 8:45 on the 10th of October an off duty officer was southbound on Notre Dame Avenue when he noticed two taxi cabs being operated in an erratic manner. Both vehicles were driving at a high rate of speed weaving in and out of traffic causing other drivers in the area to have to brake heavily to avoid collisions. |

On the 10Oct09 at approximately 7:00 AM Greater Sudbury Police Service received a call regarding an erratic driver who might be impaired in the area of Frood Road. Uniform officers attended in the area and located a 2001 Ford Taurus bearing the license plate given by the concerned citizen. |

Missing Persons Located

In the late afternoon on October 10th, 2009 there was a boat with four teenage occupants reported missing and overdue on Lake Wahnapitae. A search was conducted by area residents, Greater Sudbury Police officers and Marine Unit as well as the Ontario Provincial Police helicopter. At 6 p.m. the boat and occupants were spotted by the O.P.P. helicopter and escorted by rescue boats who towed them to shore. All were found safe and well. |

Suspicious Fire Investigation

At approximately 5:00 AM on the 10th of October the Sudbury Fire Department responded to a fire at Lasalle Secondary School. Upon their arrival at the school they discovered that a small attached storage area was in flames. The storage area in question is used to store football equipment. As well there is no access to the interior of the school at that location.

On the 9th of October 2009 at approximately 11:40 PM members of the Greater Sudbury Police Uniform Division attended the area of Falconbridge Road and Frobisher Street in response to a report of a theft of a paving machine. |

Stunt Driving Charges Laid

|
Officers of the Traffic Management once again targeted school zones and conducted speed measuring exercises on Valley View Road in Val Caron. During a four hour period approximately 32 people were charged with speeding in the school zones. |

Charges of Fail to Stop for Police
|
|
Yesterday afternoon just after 2 pm officers attempted to stop a vehicle in New Sudbury for what was initially a minor traffic violation. The vehicle instantly fled the area trying to avoid the police. After a short distance the vehicle stopped but the driver and passenger bailed engaging officers in a foot pursuit in the area of Summerhill Street. The vehicle was found to be plated with stolen plates and uninsured. |

During the early morning hours of October 3rd, officers attended to a residence in New Sudbury to check on the well being of a child in relation to an unrelated domestic occurrence. When they entered the residence they found that the child was in fact in good health. |

Impaired Driver

|
Earlier this evening local motorists called police regarding an impaired driver. They were travelling on Big Nickel Mine road when an oncoming car veered into their lane nearly causing a head-on collision. This car continued in the oncoming lane narrowly missing a second car. |

Earlier this evening officers responded to a weapons complaint at the Sudbury Transit depot on Elm Street in Sudbury. The investigation revealed that the matter was in fact a robbery. |
