:: Victims Assistance

The mandate of the Victim Services Unit is to provide information/referrals, and if required short-term emotional support to victims of crime within the City of Greater Sudbury . Further, services are available to any victim or witness who would benefit from additional intervention including, but not limited to incidents of property crime, victims of violence and victims of circumstance.

VCARS (Victim Crisis Assistance & Referral Services)

VCARS is a community response program providing immediate on-site service to victims of crime or disaster, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Read more …




Department of Justice Canada – Policy Centre for Victim Issues

The Policy Centre for Victim Issues at the Department of Justice Canada is mandated to work towards increasing the confidence of victims of crime in the criminal justice system by pursuing a range of activities and initiatives to:

•  Make victims more aware of their role in the criminal justice system and the laws, services and assistance applicable to them;

•  Increase overall awareness about the needs of victims of crime and effective approaches in Canada and internationally

•  Improve the ability of the Department of Justice to develop laws and policy that take into consideration the perspectives of victims.
